PURPOSE:To correct a defective part without damaging the important characteristic of a character or a graphic by forming the white picture element area of an original picture into fine lines, thereafter extracting the white picture element part of the thickness of one picture element as a connection candidate point, removing the connection candidate point succeeding to the end point of the white picture element indicating the broken part of the character or the characteristic and connecting remaining connection candidate point. CONSTITUTION:After a picture processor 5 executes the fine line processing of the white picture element area to a picture to be processed stored in a picture memory 1, the processor 5 inputs the picture after the fine line processing to a data converting table 3, thereby extracts the connection candidate point and the end point of the white picture element. Further, the connection candidate point succeeding to the end point of the white picture element is removed from the extracted connection candidate points. The white picture element point of the processed picture corresponding to the remaining connection candidate point is substituted by a black picture element point as a cutting and connecting point. Thereby, after the processing for connecting the white picture element points is executed throughout all the area of the processed picture. The fine line processing of the black picture element area is performed and the picture in which the defective part of the processed picture is corrected is taken out. |
