Use of or agents based on a combination of an aromatase inhibitor with a testerone-5 alpha -reductase inhibitor for the prophylaxis and treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia. The aromatase inhibitor can be in the form of substances such as 1-methyl-androsta-1,4-dien-3,17-dion and the testerone-5 alpha -reductase-inhibitor in the form of substances such as 17 beta N,N-diethylcarbamoyl-4-methyl-4-aza-5 alpha -androstan-3-on.
