<p>NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is H, straight chain, substituent group-containing straight chain, branched or cyclic lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or aralkyl), a nontoxic salt or physiologically hydrolyzable nontoxic ester thereof. EXAMPLE:7beta-[2-(2-Aminothiazol-4-yl)-( Z )-2-methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-(3,4-dihy droxybenzyl)-ceph-3-em-4-carboxylic acid. USE:An antibiotic useful as a remedy for microbism having strong antibacterial activity against resistant Gram-negative bacteria. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula I (R<1> is H or carboxyl-protecting group) or a salt thereof is reacted with a carboxylic acid shown by formula III (R<2> is H or amino-protecting group; R<3> is R which may be optionally protected) or a reactive derivative thereof to give a compound shown by formula IV, which is optionally deprotected to give a compound shown by formula I.</p> |
