The invention relates to a method for pad printing, in which printed images or partial images of inked formes or partial formes are received by means of a single pad and are transferred to work-pieces. The method can be used economically for composing partial images or for multicolour printing due to the fact that, from the single pad, printed images or partial images from formes or partial formes inked in different colours or different printed images or partial images from formes or partial formes inked in the same or different colours are received one after the other, and that, after the impression of a printed image or partial image, a cleaning print on paper is carried out by the pad before an identical printed image or partial image of a different colour or a different printed image or partial image of the same or different colour is received.
