PURPOSE:To obtain the titled active agent effective in suppressing pathogenic microorganisms and promoting growth of useful microorganisms in soil without necessitating scattering of agricultural chemicals and free from adverse effect to human body, by extracting and purifying chitin from crustacean and adsorbing the chitin solution in an adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:Chitin is extracted from a crustacean and purified. The chitin is dissolved in a solvent such as a mixture of lithium chloride, N,N- dimethylamide and water and the solution is adsorbed to an adsorbent (e.g. paper) to obtain the objective active agent. For example, a crustacean is immersed in 5% sodium hydroxide solution, washed with water, immersed in 4% hydrochloric acid solution and washed with water to effect exclusive purification of chitin. |
