摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a high-damping alloy having high damping capacity and lightened in weight, by subjecting a Sn-containing Al alloy to heating at a temp. of the melting point or below, to cooling, and to cold working at a specific draft. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of, by weight ratio, 0.1-90% Sn and the balance Al is refined. This alloy is heated at a temp. between 150 deg.C and the melting point of the alloy for 5min-100hr and then subjected to rapid cooling or to slow cooling at a rate of <=1% per second, followed by cold working such as swaging, drawing, etc., at >=5% draft. After that, the above alloy is subjected, if necessary, to heating at <=150 deg.C for 1min-500hr and then to rapid cooling or to slow cooling at a rate of <=1 deg.C per second. In this way, an Al- Sn-base high-damping alloy increased in dislocation density and having a damping capacity Q<-1> of >=6X10<-3> can be obtained. this high-damping alloy combines superior cold workability with high strength and is non-ferromagnetic, so that it is suitable for use in traffic facilities, internal combustion engines, parts for large-sized equipment, etc.
