METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING HYDROGEN EROSION BY ACOUSTIC EMISSION

PURPOSE:To automatically and continuously monitor the generation of the crack in machinery due to hydrogen erosion at high temp. by connecting the sensor mounted on the machinery to a signal processing apparatus and a display recording apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of sensors mounted to the surface of steel machinery 1 at high temp. are connected to a signal processing apparatus 4 to process acoustic emission generated from the machinery 1 and the processing result is recorded on a display recording apparatus 5. Therefore, the generation of the crack of the high temp. machinery due to hydrogen erosion at high temp. and the behavior of crack development are continuously monitored and the destruction of said machinery can be detected.
