Silicate-free detergent granules contain (a) water-insoluble carbonate particles which act as seed crystals for CaCO3, (b) a non-soap detergent which acts as a dispersant for the carbonate, and (c) a sugar. - Component (a) is calcite (CaCO3) with a surface area of 30-100 m2/g and a particle size below 10 microns. Component (b) is an anionic detergent and is present in an amt. of more than 2 wt. %. Component (c) is sucrose and is present in an amt. of more than 5 wt.%. The granules also contain an alkali metal carbonate. The granules may be produced by spray drying an aq. slurry of the ingredients or by spraying component (a) with a mixt. of components (b) and (c).
|
