PURPOSE:To easily change the state of display by a simple writing pulse and to read electrical reading of the state of display by constituting a display section of a DC electroluminescence element having memory function. CONSTITUTION:In a display unit 100, the content of memory of a memory for display 40 corresponds to the display element (display picture element) of an EL display panel 60 for each bit. For instance, an upper left display picture element of the EL display panel 60 corresponds to a memory bit of one address side of the memory for display. Depending on whether the corresponding bit of the memory for display 40 is on or off, it is determined whether the display picture element of the EL display panel 60 is displayed (lit up) or not. Accordingly, when new display data are written in the memory for display 40, a controller 30 gives on/off pulse of display to a corresponding picture element of the EL display panel 60 at control timing. |
