PURPOSE:To improve focus property, by supporting only the first to the fifth grids from the outside by an insulating support rod, while supporting the sixth grid through a metallic support member by the fourth grid. CONSTITUTION:In a multiphase focus type electron gun structure of a cathode- ray tube with the first to the sixth grids 1-6, only the first to the fifth grids are held by an insulating support rod 7, and the sixth grid 6 which forms, together with the fifth grid 5, a main lens of a large diameter is held by the fourth grid 4 through a metallic support member 8. In other words, the plate form metallic support member 8 supporting the sixth grid 6 connects the fourth and the sixth grids electrically and forms a lead wire concurrently to apply a same potential. A base support member 9 is welded to the fourth grid 4 and welded to the metallic support member 8 to support it. Although the metallic support member 8 is welded at the outside of the sixth grid 6 and the width is rather wide, it is made of a thin metallic plate, and the thickness of the member 8 is too thin to make a trouble, compared with the interval in the diameter direction of the neck pipe necessary to furnish the insulating support rod 7.
