<p>In a liquid aerating apparatus, particularly for preparing carbonated drinks, a spring (13) is positioned between an operating lever (11) and a plunger (8) which is driven inwardly to open the gas valve (2) of a gas cylinder (3), the strength of the spring being selected so that a reduced regulated gas pressure is delivered. In operation, gas from the cylinder (3) enters a cavity (5) from which it passes via a passage (7) to the injector head. Increase of pressure in the cavity (5) above a threshold level moves the plunger (8) against the action of the spring (13), allowing the gas valve (2) to close. The plunger (8) may also co-operate with a vent passage (20) to constitute a relief valve, and to reduce the gas pressure at the end of the aeration process. Thus, should the gas valve (2) fail to close, or if excess pressure is communicated via a connection (25) from the aeration useage space, the plunger (8) is moved sufficiently for an O-ring seal (9) to expose the vent passage (20) through to the cavity (5). <IMAGE></p> |
