PURPOSE:To contrive a longer useful life of a printing head, by a printing-controlling system for a wire dot printer or the like wherein when printing of a horizontal line with a predetermined length by a printing element is completed, the printing element is switched to another printing element, a printing position is corrected in the feeding direction of a printing medium, and the next horizontal line is printed. CONSTITUTION:Printing information (d) inputted to an interface circuit 11 is discriminated by a command-decoding circuit 12, and a horizontal line printing command is sent to a counter 17a. With the number (n) of printing wires provided in a printing head 1 as a set point, the counter 17a is incremented each time printing of one line is performed at the time of printing a horizontal line, and when the count reaches the set point (n), the count is cleared, and counting is restarted from an initial condition. A switching-controlling circuit 17a switchingly designates the printing wire. A command for correcting the feed of a printing paper 3 is outputted from a correction-controlling circuit 20a, and the paper is correctedly fed. Driving of a spacing motor SM is started, and the horizontal line is printed under the function of a head drive controlling circuit 15 according to a horizontal line printing pattern stored in a line buffer 14. After the printing of the horizontal line for one line is completed, the printing wire is sequentially switched, and the printing is carried out.
