PURPOSE:To obtain a bond flux for submeged arc welding having excellent flux removability by specifying the components of the flux. CONSTITUTION:This flux contains, by the wt% of the total weight of the flux, 8-20% SiO2, <=19% MgO, 20-50% Al2O3, 5-17% SiO2, 5-25% metallic fluoride, and <=12% CaO. This flux is the bond flux and contains the components of binders such as water glass, alumina sol, and silica sol to be used in the stage of pelletizing raw material powder. Easy removal of slag even in large heat input multi-layere build-up submeged arc welding of thick plates is thereby made possible. The excellent bead shape and low-temp. toughness are thus obtd.
