A high-voltage switching installation is composed of a plurality of units, of which each unit has in each case one power circuit breaker (14, 15) which power circuit breakers are installed vertically side by side. A strand (10 to 13) having individual components is in each case connected to the upper end and lower end of each power circuit breaker (14, 15), in such a manner that the two strands (10 to 13) belonging to each power circuit breaker (14, 15) in each case form a U with said power circuit breaker. This unit can be assembled by means of suitable intermediate elements (26) and connecting leads (lines, cables) (37) to form a ring switching installation, a switching installation in accordance with the 1 1/2 method, and the like. <IMAGE>
