A disc brake, particularly for motor vehicles, has a brake housing which reaches around the rim of a brake disc, around brake linings arranged on both sides of the brake disc and around a spring (2, 72) which is supported on the brake housing and on the brake linings so as to brace these against one another. In order to achieve an adequate preloading force and ensure the required stroke, the spring (2, 72) has two circumferentially extending spring arms (24, 26, 84, 88) which can be brought to rest with a section (16, 18) bent essentially in the shape of a U on a supporting surface on the brake lining and with a further section on a supporting surface (52, 54) formed on the brake housing (56). <IMAGE>
