NEW MATERIAL:The basic substance having the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, light green powder; elemental analysis, C 64.20%, H 5.36%, N 3.39%; molecular weight, 411.1356 (measured value by high-resolution mass spectrometry) and 411.1318 (calculated value); molecular formula, C22H21NO7; [alpha]$26uD, 0 deg. (C=0.1, methanol solution); UV absorption (measured in methanol solution), 252nm (epsilon 7500), 283nm (epsilon 4110), 336nm (epsilon 10007); solubility, easily soluble in chloroform, benzene, methanol, acetone and ethyl acetate, hardly soluble in ethyl ether and n-hexane and insoluble in water; color reaction, positive to sulfuric acid, iodine, anisaldehyde-sulfuric acid and negative to ninhydrin and BCG. USE:Antibacterial agent and antihemophilic agent. PREPARATION:The objective FD-838 can be produced e.g. by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Aspergillus genus and capable of producing the physiologically active substance FD-838 (e.g. Aspergillus fumigatus Fresenius F-838) under aerobic condition and separating the substance accumulated in the culture product. |
