The apparatus is provided with a welding appliance (4) which consists of a fixed housing (13) and an insert (25) rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the welding appliance (4). The insert (25) carries an electrode (30). The apparatus also comprises a control and supply device with lines (26, 27, 28, 29) to the welding appliance (4), partly for the transmission of control signals to a drive motor (36) attached in the insert (25) and intended for rotating the same, and partly for feeding working media for the welding operation, such as, for example, welding current, inert gas. The lines (26, 27, 28, 29) are directly attached to the rotatable insert (25). Furthermore, the rotatable insert (25) attached in the welding appliance (4) can be entirely removed simply and quickly from the housing (13), as a result of which the maintenance of the welding appliance, the exchange of components, etc., is substantially facilitated. <IMAGE> |
