PURPOSE:To increase discharge capacity and cycle life and reduce cost by using a hydrogen occlusion alloy comprising Ln, Ni, Co, Mn, and other metal Mf to form an alkaline storage battery. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen occlusion alloy is prepared in a composition of Ln (lanthanide): 26-38wt%, Ni: 45-60wt%, Co: 3-12wt%, Mn: 2.5-8.5wt%, Al: 0.7-3.0wt%, and other metal Mf: 0.5-3.5wt%. The composition of Ln is specified as La: 25-60wt%, Ce: 24-50wt%, Nd: 3.0-15wt%, Pr: 1.2-10wt%, and other rare earth metals: 0.6-5wt%, and 3.5<Ni/Ln<4.5. This alloy is used as a negative electrode of alkaline storage battery. Therefore, hydrogen dissociation pressure is reduced and chargeability is increased, and the storage capacity of hydrogen is increased. |
