Liquid, aqueous preparations of trisazo dyes of the formula I <IMAGE> where A is for example the radical of a diazo component of the benzene series X and Y are each hydroxyl or amino, X being not equal to Y, B is the radical of a coupling component of the formula II <IMAGE> where R<1> is hydroxyl or substituted or unsubstituted amino, R<2> is hydrogen, hydroxyl or substituted or unsubstituted amino, and R<3> is hydrogen or a substituent which is customary in coupling components of trisazo dyes, M<(+)> is a cation or mixture of different cations, at least one equivalent per mole of the dye of cations M<(+)> being lithium cations and/or cations of the formula III <IMAGE> where n is a number from 1 to 30, and R<4> and R<5> are each for example hydrogen, and p is equal to the number of carboxylate groups present in the molecule, are highly suitable for dyeing leather. |
