PURPOSE:To correct an irregularity in pitch due to an error in the tilt angle of a rotary polygon mirror and to record an image having excellent quality through a simple constitution by making a multiple scan and forming one picture element. CONSTITUTION:The subscanning speed (v) is set to A.P60, where P is the number of revolution (rpm) of the rotary polygon mirror 6, (n) the number of reflecting surfaces, A is the size (mm) of a picture element in a subscanning direction, and (v) the subscanning speed (mm/sec). Namely, a light beam modulated with data corresponding to one picture element is irradiated at slightly shifted position plural times one over another in this example while the rotary polygon mirror makes one turn. The diameter of the light spot illuminating a recording medium is nearly equal to or smaller than picture element pitch in the subscanning direction and set larger scanning pitch. |
