The window or door frame comprises two uprights (3) and a horizontal head element each consisting of a sectional, pref. metal, member which is open in laterally outward direction and grips over the edge of the door or window aperture in a wall (2). The ends of the element hook into the upper ends of the uprights whilst each upright can have its flanges (6,7) clamped together to secure it on to the wall e.g. by one or more brackets (13) contained in the section (3) having legs (15,16) engaging its flanges (6,7) and clamped together by a screw bolt (14) accessible through an opening (24) in the upright.FL.
