The device comprises a moisture detecting element with a moisture-sensitive sensor and an inbuilt transmitter and a signalling part with an inbuilt receiver and indicator. The moisture detecting element is located in the undergarments of the baby or infant; by utilising the electrical properties of urine the moisture-sensitive sensor is used to detect discharge of urine, this information is transmitted wirelessly into the signalling part and an acoustic or optical indication is given. The baby or infant can be monitored in its bed or in the pram or outside these. The device permits complete protection against moisture in babies and infants.
