PURPOSE:To always stabilize electric, optical, and photoconductive characteristics, to enhance photofatigue resistance, to cause no deterioiration in repeated uses, to enhance resistance, durability, and humidity resistance, and to reduce residual potential by forming a light receiving member having a light receiving layer composed of a specified 2-layer structure. CONSTITUTION:The light receiving member 100 is composed of a substrate 101, and the light receiving layer laminated on the substrate 101, comprising the photoconductive first layer 102 made of an amorphous material containing Si as a base element, and the second layer 103 made of made of a amorphous material containing Si as a base element and also C. The first layer 102 contains Ge in the whole layer region in a nonuniform distribution, and the second layer 103 contains a conductivity governing substance, that is, an element of group III or V in the whole layer region in uniform distribution, permitting residual potential to be prevented or restrained to a substantially unaffecting degree. |
