PURPOSE:To enhance dielectric strength, by providing a single bent groove in an insulating support body for an inline-type electron gun so that groove portions extending squarely across the axial direction of the electron gun are located between support members for mutually-neighboring grids. CONSTITUTION:An inline-type electron gun comprises a cathode 1, a first grid 2, a second grid 3, a third grid 4 and a fourth grid 5 which are sequentially disposed and supported by an insulating support body 6 provided with a single bent groove 8 whose portions extending squarely across the axial direction of the electron gun are located between support members 7a-7e for the mutually-neighboring grids. As a result, electrons emitted by an electric field are prevented from colliding against the support body 6 to emit secondary electrons to cause a creeping discharge through the support body. A good dielectric strength is thus achieved to eliminate the in-tube discharge.
