Process for sealing boreholes in the testing of gas pipe systems in bituminous surfaces of carriageways, squares and the like, a seal consisting of a bituminous material which bonds to the bituminous surface being introduced into the borehole orifice. For sealing, a bitumen/synthetic resin mixture is used which is shaped into a conical plug adapted to the diameter of the borehole orifice. The conical plug, with the exception of a projecting end whose height corresponds to a section of the diameter of the plug, is pushed into the borehole orifice. The bond to the bituminous surface is produced by heating the projecting end using the flame and spreading it. <IMAGE>
