In a dish rack for dishwashers having a possibly separable cutlery basket, the cutlery basket is mounted on the dish rack so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis. This arrangement allows the cutlery to be washed to be placed flat in the cutlery basket without the risk of injury or soiling for the operator of the appliance. The cutlery can be removed in the same manner, thus obviating the need for unhygienic touching of the upper parts of the cutlery, such as knife blades, etc.
