PURPOSE:To provide the titled apparatus having compact size and suitable for group test and capable of storing and recording a radiation image information to a specific fluorescent material, detecting the accelerated phosphorescence emitted by the irradiation with excitation ray, converting the acquired image information to electrical signal and converting the signal to visible image. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent sheet represented by the principal compositional formula (MII is Ba, Sr or Ca; X and X' are Cl, Br or I; Xnot equal to X'; 0.1<=a<=10; 0<x<=0.2) capable of accumulating recording radiation image is circulated. In the course of circulation, radiation passed through the object is radiated to the fluorescent sheet to effect the storage and recording of the transmission radiation image on the sheet. The sheet is scanned with excitation light emitted from an excitation light source on the circulation path and the accelerated phosphorescence emitted from the sheet is detected by a detection means to obtain an image signal. Prior to the recording of the image on the sheet, the residual radiation energy on the sheet is dissipated in the erasion zone.
