The invention relates to a process for the preparation of autoclaved fibre-reinforced shaped objects with a bulk density of at least 600 kg/m3, e.g. flat or corrugated plates, boards and panels, whose matrix consists of a hardened calcium silicate binder. The first step in this process is the preparation of an aqueous solution containing 5-30% of fibrous material (including at least 5% of cellulose fibres), 15-50% of ultra-fine silica powder with a specific surface area of 5-200 m2/g and a mean particle diameter of less than about 0.5 microns, 20- 80% of lime and/or a lime-containing material, and 0-40% of additives (calculated on a dry-matter basis). The initial shaped objects are then obtained by dewatering the slurry, and autoclaving the crude objects, possibly after compression and preliminary hardening. The resulting autoclaved shaped objects are characterized by a high strength relative to their bulk density, together with a low permeability, a high frost resistance and a high degree of flexibility.
|
