NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are H, nitro, aryl, lower alkyl, etc.; R<1> and R<2> may together form alkylene or alkenylene which may contain O, S, carbonyl or imino group). EXAMPLE:N-benzylidene-2-cycloheptenylamine. USE:A soil blight controlling agent. It has excellent controlling effect against the soil blight of various phytopathogens. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting 2-cycloheptenylamine with the carbonyl compound of formula II in a solvent such as hexane or in the absence of solvent, in the presence or absence of a catalyst such as benzenesulfonic acid, at 0-150 deg.C for 1-24hr.
