PURPOSE:To manage an area efficiently by applying display representing whether a corresponding area is an area used in common at each logical space for each entry of a segment table and a page table. CONSTITUTION:In converting a logical address into a real address by a segment table 30 and page tables 31-34, a common area bit 36 of each entry on the table 30 uses the same page table 31. Bits 37-49 representing common areas are given to each element of the page tables 32-34 pointed out by the segment table not representing the common area and the common page is provided with a point 40 representing the same area on a real storage device 35. No paging is required by making the common page table 40 resident on the device 35, the overhead revising the tables 32-34 is not required, the common area is managed finely and the user's intrinsic area used by the user is increased.
