PURPOSE:To prevent an adapter from shift in axial center from each other and the housing from falling by forming recessed parts that projections for clamping engage in the storage hole of the adapter and attaching and detaching the housing to and from the adapter by the elastic deformation of arm parts. CONSTITUTION:Two ferrule end surfaces are made to abut on each other by the adapter which has an axial hole 106' into which a ferrule 103 for holding an optical fiber is inserted and the storage hole 106 where the housing 100 containing the fixed ferrule 103 is stored at the periphery of the hole 106'. The housing 100 is molded out of synthetic resin and provided with at least two arm parts 102 for clamping outside and clamping projections 104 at right angles of the directions of elastic deformation of the arm parts 102, and the recessed parts 105 that the projections engage are formed in the storage hole 106 of the adapter to attach and detach the housing to and from the adapter by the elastic deformation of the arm parts 102. External tensile force operates to compress the projections 104, so the arm parts 102 never deform elastically. Consequently, neither a shift in axial center nor the falling of the housing from the adapter is caused.
