The invention relates to a method for reproducing a three-dimensional original image, the original image to be reproduced being covered in an airtight manner by a film made of a plastic material and the enclosed air being sucked out of the hood formed in this manner, the three-dimensional original image being arranged on a first supporting surface which is surrounded by a sealing edge or is formed by a flexible supporting diaphragm having a sealing edge, the original image and the sealing edge being covered by an airtight flexible diaphragm, the space bounded by the diaphragm, the first supporting surface and the sealing edge of the latter being evacuated, the evacuated space being filled with air, the diaphragm being removed and arranged above the second reception surface which is also surrounded by a sealing edge or has a sealing edge and supports an image reception element, the side of the diaphragm bearing the paint facing the image reception element, the space bounded by the diaphragm, the second supporting surface and the sealing edge of the latter being evacuated, the second space being filled with air, the diaphragm being removed and the above steps being repeated if necessary, the original image being coloured e.g. sprayed using one or more paints before it is covered by the diaphragm in each case, to improve the method.
