PURPOSE:To enhance the stability for floating by constituting a floating head slider so that the width near the centers of side rails is shorter than that in the air outflow end. CONSTITUTION:Both side walls of side rails 2 are worked to curved surfaces to make the width near center parts of side rails 2 narrower than an air inflow end 6 and an air outflow end 7. When the width near center parts of taper surfaces 3 and arc surfaces of side rails 2 is narrowed, air charged from the air inflow end 6 is leaked aside from arc surfaces 4. As the result, a fluid force of positive pressure generated near center parts of side rails 2 is reduced to reduce peak points of pressure distribution near center parts of side rails 2 which are seen in a conventional example.
