Filter for purifying water comprises a bed of a filtering mass contained in a filter vessel. The wall of the filter vessel is inclined an an angle of 1-8 deg., relative to the vertical. Impurities are removed by introducing high pressure flushing liq. from underneath the filtering mass, the filter bed is fluidised and expands. Flushing liq. disengages impurities from the filter mass, the impurities are then forced upwards. The filter bed then contracts back to its original position. Discharge nozzles are used. |
