PURPOSE:The titled odorless addition product with low change with time, obtained by adding lactic acid and/or a lactate to an alkylene oxide adduct useful as a surface active agent obtained by reacting an alcohol with ethylene oxide and 3-4C alkylene oxide. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene oxide and 3-4C alkylene oxide (e.g., propylene oxide, etc.) are added to an alcohol (e.g., methyl alcohol, an alcohol obtained by hydrogenating coconut oil, random secondary alcohol, etc.) to give an alkylene oxide addition product, which is blended with 5-0.001pts.wt., preferably 1-0.05pt.wt. based on 100pts.wt. alkylene oxide addition product of lactic acid and/or a lactate such as sodium lactate, potassium lactate, etc. When lactic acid and/or the lactate is added, an aqueous solution is adjusted to 4-9, preferably 5-7pH.
