PURPOSE:To enable presetting of more detailed and complicated retrieving items by accumulating control information concerning retrieving data in the voluminous memory system of the central computer. CONSTITUTION:The image file retrieving device (retrieving terminal device) 1 retrieves the image file in the memory device 2, and has the function of outputting the desired image data on the displayer 4 or printer 6. The memory device 3 is RAM comprising SC memory or the like and is used to store the list of retrieving results from the central computer 7 and other data. The central computer 7 is joined with the image file retriever 1 by communications circuit, etc., and retains control information regarding image data in the memory system 8.
