Glass sheet is tempered in a closed room of which inner pressure is kept higher than the atmospheric pressure. The device comprises two opposite jetting heads (12) with outlets (14) in a closed room (18), and a gas supply (24). The gas jetted from the inlets envelopes the sheet glass (G) and is sent back to the gas supply through the pipe (30) in order to maintain a certain gas pressure level. The device can be applied to tempering thin sheet glass and it reduces power and noise.
