PURPOSE:To scale down a device and to lighten its weight by selecting the rotational frequency of a rotating drum and setting the diameter of the rotating drum to a smaller value. CONSTITUTION:The diameter of the rotating drum 15 is set to one-third, and said drum is rotated at the frequency as large as three times and is traveled in a section where the audio signal is recorded and reproduced by winding obliquely a tape 2, thereby recording and reproducing the audio signal. Thus the audio signal can be recorded or reproduced in any section, and moreover the device can be scaled down and its weight can be lightened.
