PURPOSE:To prevent an overload by installing, to a pressure adjusting valve, a mechanism which fixes the valve in a closed state, and a mechanism which closes a passage which transmits the water pressure to a diaphragm in a pressure receiving chamber, together with a connection port which returns, to a suction side, a part of water flowing into a discharge port. CONSTITUTION:The valve case 8 of a pressure adjusting valve 4 is provided with both an inlet port 9 and a discharge port 10, while a diaphragm 19 is fixed to the valve shaft 21 of a valve body 22. A mechanism, which fixes the valve in a closed state by means of a combination of the male-screw parts located at the upper part of the valve shaft 21 and a clamping nut 27, and a mechanism, which closes a passage which transmits the water pressure to a diaphragm 19 by means of a connecting passage 15, an intermediate chamber 17, a connecting passage 16 and a closing screw 18, are constituted. A connection port 11 which returns a part of the water, which flows into a discharge port 10, to the suction side is provided to the bottom surface of the valve case 8. With this contrivance, an overload can be prevented with a simple mechanism.
