The present invention relates to a method and a system for paying a public transportation fare using a beacon. More specifically, the system for paying a public transportation fare using a beacon comprises: a beacon which is installed on an entrance and an exit of a transportation means, recognizes a user terminal approaching a prescribed short range wireless communication area, and transmits a public transportation fare payment approval authentication key to the recognized user terminal; a public transportation terminal which is installed on the transportation means, collects identification information of the user terminal recognized by the beacon, and gives the public transportation fare payment approval authentication key based on the collected information; a public transportation management server which is connected to the public transportation terminal installed on the transportation means via a network, and performs an approval process for payment approval requested from a public transportation use application installed in the user terminal which uses the public transportation; and the user terminal to request the approval process from the public transportation management server using the public transportation use application when the public transportation fare payment approval authentication key is transferred via the beacon installed on the transportation means. |
