The silicon dioxide and/or silicate has a primary particle size of less than 500mÁ and a BET specific surface of 100-500 m2/g and may be obtained pyrogenically or by wet precipitation. The agent may be used in the preservation of milk substitutes, meal, cereals, molasses and spent beer malt.
