PURPOSE:To prevent the thermal deformation, etc. of movable belts by driving the belts and starting pouring of a molten metal into the casting space after the introduction of a dummy bar into said space and drawing a solidified shell upon formation of said shell and coupling thereof to the dummy bar. CONSTITUTION:Both driving belts 5, 6 are driven and the pouring of the molten metal is started while the dummy bar head 4 introduced into the casting space 2 is held therein. The solidified shell of the molten steel having a cylindrical shell shape is drawn in the casting direction in synchronization with the moving speed of the belts 5, 6 when said shell is formed of the belts 5, 6 and the contact surfaces of the side plates and is coupled to the top of the dummy bar. The thermal deformation of the belts, bulging and breakout are thus decreased and the stable operation is assured. |
