PURPOSE:To fit a proper wide panel adaptor to the titled device and to attain photographing without uneven exposure (uneven illumination) by generating an alarm when a photographing lens exceeding a wide angle limit is loaded. CONSTITUTION:The flash device is provided with a reading means for reading out a signal corresponding to the focal distance of a photographing lens loaded to the camera, a determining means for determining the irradiation angle of a light emitting part on the basis of the read-out signal, a discriminating means for discriminating whether the read-out signal exceeds the limit of the wide angle side or not, and a means for generating an alarm when the excess of the limit on the wide angle side is discriminated by the discriminating means. When a focal distance signal indicating than the picture angle of the photographing lens can not be covered even by the widest lighting angle is read out, an alarm is generated.
