PURPOSE:To improve usability of the titled thermometer by composing the clinical thermometer of a temperature sensing probe formed in an earplug shape and a main body having an infrared temperature sensor and measuring the bodily temperature by inserting the temperature sensing probe into an ear. CONSTITUTION:The temperature sensing probe 1 made of synthetic resin is composed of an insertion part 6 into the ear with the shape to be inserted into an ear hole and the main body of the temperature sensing probe 9 with the large diameter to prevent the inserting of the insertion part 6 into the ear over specified depth and the end face of an optical fiber 5 is exposed to the tip of the insertion part 6. Then, the infrared sensor 4 for measuring the bodily temperature, an amplifier, a rectification circuit and a display circuit, etc. are incorporated into a main body 3 of the clinical thermometer and a display part is provided to the surface of the main body 3. Then, at the time of measuring the bodily temperature, when the insertion part 6 is inserted into the ear hole, infrared rays by the bodily temperature are made incident on the tip of the optical fiber 5 and the sensor 4 detects it via the fiber 5 to display the measured bodily temperature on the display part.
