PURPOSE:A novel synthetic lubricant oil that is composed of a specific monoalkylnaphthalene mixture or a mixture mainly containing the same, thus showing especially high stability to oxidation. CONSTITUTION:The objective synthetic lubricant oil is composed of a monoalkylnaphthalene which has a secondary alkyl group of 6-24 carbon atoms as a substituent and a molar ratio of more than 1.0, preferably 1.0-2.0 of the alfa-derivative to the beta-derivative. The mixture is synthesized by effecting the Friedel-Craft reaction between naphthalene and a straight-chain alfa-olefin of 6-24 carbon atoms at 0-250 deg.C in the presence of an acidic catalyst such as aluminum chloride. |
