PURPOSE:To provide a drug containing 1,4-dimethyl-7-isopropylazulene-3-sulfonic acid salt as an active component, and useful for the prevention and remedy of renal disorder caused by the cis-diaminodichloroplatinum useful as an antitumor agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective drug contains a 1,4-dimethyl-7-isopropylazulene-3- sulfonic acid salt (general name: sodium azulenesulfonate) as an active component. It has been found that the sodium azulenesulfonate known as an eye lotion, remedy for gastritis, gargle, etc. is effective for the prevention and remedy of grave renal disorder caused by cis-diaminodichloroplatinum (abbreviated as cis-DDP) useful as an antitumor agent. The effect for the suppression of the side effects can be demonstrated by the fact that the rise of BUN in the administration of cis-DDP can be remarkably suppressed. For the purpose of prevention, it is preferable to use the azulenesulfonate and the cis-DDP at a ratio of 1/100:1-100:1. |
