A unit consisting of a hub 8 and saw blade 10 are coaxially secured upon a saw shaft 3 by a holding means 14 which is subjected to the pressure of springs 21 and is removable from its operative position when the spring pressure is overcome. The hub is keyed to the shaft 3 which is supported in bearings 4, 5 and driven by bevel gearing 6, 7. The shaft 3 is hollow and a rod 12 extends therethrough and at its outer end carries a bayonet body 14 secured to the rod by a nut 13. The body 14 co-operates with a ring 15 screwed into the end of the hub. The interior of the ring corresponds to the profile of the body and in one position of the ring springs 21 at the other end of the rod press interengaging faces of the body and ring together. A fluid pressure cylinder 26 is operable to press a shoe 24 against the rod which is thereby moved against the spring pressure to permit the body to be turned relative to ring 15 to align the faces on the body with slots in the ring and a collar on the rod to press against the ring and push the hub and blade off the shaft 3.</p> |
