It has been found, surprisingly, that the ethylenediamine monoamides of the formula <IMAGE> in which R denotes an aromatic 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical as defined in Claim 1, as well as their pharmaceutically usable acid addition salts, possess, while being of low toxicity, interesting monoamino oxidase-inhibiting properties and can consequently be used for treating Parkinsonism and conditions which cause depression. With the exception of N-(2-aminoethyl)pyridine-2-carboxamide, all compounds of the formula I are still novel; they can be prepared by known methods. |
