A fatty material contg. at least 4 wt.% gamma linolenic acid and virtually free from odoriferous components, free fatty acids, colourants and waxes, is obtd. by pressing a vegetable material (I) contg. pips of fruits of the genus Ribes. (I) is e.g. residues obtd. from the prodn. of juice, jams and jellies, eau-de-vie, liqueurs, from currants, gooseberries, or hybrids or mixts. of these fruits.
