<p>In a tube coupling device of the swivel type including a coupling body (1) having a female portion (3) that rotatably and sealingly retains a male member (13), the male member (13) is retained in the female portion (3) of the body (1) by a plastics bush (12) that is itself retained in the female portion (3) and provides a non-lube bearing surface for the male member (13). The problem of wear and possible seizure associated with prior swivel couplings is thereby mitigated. In addition, the bush (13) may be adapted to be retained in any one of a variety of coupling bodies so that a standard tube coupling body may readily be converted into a swivel fitting. The male member (13) is rotatably retained, preferably permanently, in the bush (12) by detent means, formed integrally with the bush, that engage a circumferential recess (27) formed in the male member (13). <IMAGE></p> |
